Taming Your Temper has given me great insight into understanding my anger and anxiety which I have had issues with for quite a while. Taming Your temper has helped me in a step by step process to understand and then use new techniques for managing my thoughts and emotions in a healthy way.

In this day and age where so many people are hair trigger and ready to explode it is nice to know that there are great tools available such as this workbook. I highly recommend it for individual use and also for couples to work on together.
This book is a definite life changer! Everyone deals with anger and if you especially have problems controlling your anger -- this book is a miracle worker.

It's compassionate, easy to navigate and read and step by step helpful. The exercises are so helpful in teaching you to rewire your brain. Honestly -- I was doing better after implementing the first exercise.

I bought three -- one for me, one for my brother and one for a coworker.

You can't buy therapy this good for this cheap. Run, don't walk and pick yourself up and copy and give one to anyone that would like to rid their lives of anger and replace it with joy.

"Taming Your Temper" is an excellent tool for anyone who wrestles with anger and temper issues. I say this is a "tool," because Mr. Smith's book is more than a simple "quick fix" self help manual. Rather than furnishing a bunch of prefabricated answers, this book guides the reader down a road of self discovery to find the issues that lie at the root of one's behavior. Progressively, each chapter introduces a key component of anger and behavior management, such as Anger Cyles and Triggers, Family History and Relationships, and Setting Boundaries. The book's title indicates that this is a "Workbook." This characterization is definitely appropriate. The reader's role is anything but passive. Through a well reasoned cognitive behavior approach, the reader is presented with multiple self-evaulation exercises. These exercises help the reader to not only uncover the roots of behavioral issues, but also fomulate their own constructive approach to dealing with these difficulties. For those readers who find themselves self-conscious or anxious about venting on these issues, Mr. Smith breaks the ice with several "Jump Start" sections, in which sample answers to self evaluation exercises are shown. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in taking a pro-active approach to behavioral and emotional self management.
I would not describe Taming as a self-help book. Rather it reads more like a behavorial mentoring with Smith in the room with you. You do not have to be angry all the time to benefit from the training this book provides. Having a temper is "normal" at times for some of us, but it doesnt make it best for a great life, so tamimg it is a good thing.
And because you participate with the process the lessons are better absorbed. Reading this has been a very positive experience.
Without a doubt one of the best workbooks for anger. My clients have really found it easy to navigate
OK book. Gives you a lot to think about as you work through your issues. Some exercises are pretty long and involved. I worked through it fairly regularly doing a couple a week for a few months. Since I've stopped/finished, I have forgotten much of what it contains. Nothing noteworthy.
